Artist's Description
Beyond the old, foreground pilings is Mo’s, a famous seafood restaurant on the waterfront of Florence, Oregon. I visit Oregon nearly once each year and never miss an opportunity to eat at any Mo’s location. But, Florence is my favorite.
In 1950, Mohava Marie Niemi began her first restaurant in the harbor of Newport, Oregon. It became a popular hangout for fishermen, recognized for its seafood, especially the clam chowder. In 1968 she opened Mo’s Annex, sister to Original Mo’s, across the street, overlooking Yaquina Bay. By the early eighties, Mo’s had expanded to Mo’s West at Devil’s Punchbowl in Otter Rock, Lincoln City, Florence, and Cannon Beach.
About Bill Hudson
Bill Hudson comes from a family of watermen who worked the Chesapeake and Chincoteague Bays in Virginia. His inherited love of the sea is evident in his watercolors. Having an aptitude for art as well as science and mathematics, Bill graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Drexel University in Philadelphia. He then pursued a 38-year career in aerospace while painting with oils and watercolors as a hobby. His proudest moments came, however, when he married his wife Ellie and they were blessed with eight children.
